SUSAN was a tenured violinist with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and has worked with such distinguished conductors as Franz-Paul Decker, Zubin Mehta, Rafael Frübeck de Burgos and others. Freelance work has included opera, ballet, radio, film, TV, musical theatre, popular artists e.g: the McGill Chamber Orchestra, 13 Strings, National Ballet of Canada, l'opéra de Montréal, Liberace, Shirley MacLean, Tony Bennett, Ginette Reno, Danielle Licari and more......
A chamber music enthusiast, Susan has performed with colleagues at the McMichael Art Collection, the Varley Art Gallery, Glendon University, the Mississauga Living Arts Centre, Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association, the Waldorf School, Sunnybrook Hospital, and numerous churches.
Creative Strings Violin Studio was active from 2002-2020. Her students successfully completed Royal Conservatory of Music exams, participated in recitals for the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association, and pursued studies at the Etobicoke School of the Arts, Humberside Collegiate, and universities. She was a faculty member of the Royal Conservatory Community School (Toronto), and music specialist at the Toronto French School (Mississauga). Prior teaching included Dawson College (Montreal), Ecole de LaSalle, and Canterbury High School (Ottawa) and at the summer Camp Musicale in Joliette-Lanaudière.
Susan is a graduate of McGill, the Conservatoire de Musique du Québec, Concordia University, l'université de Montréal, York University and the University of Ottawa. She achieved certified status as a French to English translator with the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario.
Susan wrote the violin scale book Creative Strings: Scales with Susan (2010). She edited Soundplay - Eight Character Pieces for solo violin by Susan Griesdale, and performed the world premiere of these pieces in 2011.
In 2015, Susan attended the Starling-Delay Symposium on Violin Studies at The Juilliard School in New York. In 2016, she participated in "Joachim at 185" - a musicology conference in Boston.
